Starting Your Speaking Ministry

Here are some basic principles for knowing where to start your speaking ministry. Of course you'll need to have a strong, engaging talk prepared that delivers a timely and targeted message. It would be well to have a One-Sheet also. (See Marketing Division - preparing your marketing packet for "one-sheets.")

Begin near home.

· At your church (a men's or women's breakfast or luncheon

or even a Sunday School class)

· At another nearby church

· At a local Christian ministry (Ask to present a devotional

  at their staff meeting.)

· At a Christian school chapel service or class

· At a writer's group (if you've authored a book)

· Ask to give a devotional talk at your church's weekend retreat.

Since you're just starting, try anything and everything. God will show you your nitch as you go.

Plan times of silence in your talk: 4, 5 or 10seconds. It's golden.
